Following the creation of the award winning Core Area Plan Office for Urbanism was retained to undertake a Urban Design and Transportation study for one of the central streets that enter the Capital District, City of Iqaluit. This study was especially signifi cant because it was able to address issues, and was also instrumental in defi ning a sense of civic identity through the design of the public realm. As a result of the study, new opportunities for civic spaces were identifi ed and created. For this project, OU was assisted by MMM, who developed the transportation analysis, and by John Laird with landscape architecture.
