Martin Goodman Trail

Waterfront Toronto, the City of Toronto, and Ontario Place retained Janet Rosenberg + Associates (JRA) to engage the design of the Martin Goodman Trail along Ontario Place, and invited Office For Urbanism to participate in the project as the planning and urban design lead.

The project consists of extending the trail from Marilyn Bell Park to the existing trail within Coronation Park at Strachan Avenue, which has implied the consideration and analysis of the several and diverse activities that have been placed permanently or sporadictly in this scenario.

The revitalization efforts look forward not only to addressing the issues related to the design and function of this multi-use trail, but also to identify opportunities for additional public realm space, in order to design the proper environment for a variety of bicycle users, joggers, rollerbladers and pedestrians, as well as passive activities and sporadic events like the Carnival.

Safety, sustainability, connectivity and public use have also been defined as key components of the design approach for the Martin Goodman Trail.
