Toronto Heritage Management Plan - Phase 1

Office For Urbanism led a team comprising Goldsmith Borgal and Company Architects Limited, Fournier Gersovitz et Moss Artchitectes, Heritage Consultant William Greer, and internationally recognized heritage experts Anthony Tung and Herb Stovel in the development of Phase I of the City of Toronto’s Heritage Management Plan. The Management Plan will be an essential policy tool for the City, in that it will provide clarity on how to protect Toronto’s wide range of built heritage resources and cultural heritage landscapes. Office For Urbanism led a unique process to develop the Plan which included hosting two intensive advisor workshops, bringing together experts from the public, private and not-for-profit sector. At the first of these workshops, the advisors commented on a framework to address the broad issues facing heritage preservation in the City of Toronto, and at the second, provided detailed suggestions and feedback on the draft plan. As a result, the Heritage Management Plan will be an impressively comprehensive, yet focused document that will set priorities for the City of Toronto and assist City Council to make decisions on heritage well into the future.
