Villa Moda Competition

Office for Urbanism in association with Rojkind Arquitectos (Mexico) participated and were awarded with first place in the international competition to prepare the conceptual design for the development of a cultural and educational centre that will be the first of its kind in Kuwait.

"an amalgamation of cultural programs working together to create inspirational learning opportunities for all sectors of society."

The site dedicated is approximately 130,000 square meters facing the waterfront in an area called Salmiya, where a traditional secondary high school had it's location in the past. Within the context of Kuwait's evolving economic climate, this project is meant to create venues for cross-cultural education and learning, entertainment and performing arts for the people of Kuwait and the region, and will reflect the region's rich heritage, history and culture.

OU's participation included site and context analysis, creation of design principles and guidelines, preparation of the urban design and planning concept, and consolidation of the public realm, as well as the integration of these matters with the architectural designs.
